GENERAL INFORMATION
Apprentices Act. 1961 passed by Parliament in 1961, regulates needs of trained craftsmen for industry by utilizing the training faculties available in the industry. So as to supplement the availability trained technical personnel. It is a statutory obligation of every Industry/Establishment having training facilities according disyllables in a designated trade under the Apprentices Act. 1961 to train a number of apprentices according to prescribed ratio of the trade in their establishment.
1. Registration of Apprenticeship Contract Procedure:-
The Registration of Apprenticeship Contract are done in quarterly the month of
- 16th January to 15th April,
- 16th April to 15th July,
- 16th July to 15th October,
- 16th October to 15th January of every year.
The lists of the establishments having details of training seats for each session are displayed accordingly on notice board and the website of DTTE.
2. Registration of Apprenticeship Contract of I.T.I Pass Candidate:-
I.T.I (Industrial Training Institute) passed candidates can join apprenticeship Training and are eligible rebate of corresponding period of training undergone by them in I.T.I out of the total duration prescribed under the Act as prescribed by the Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India.
3. Payment of Stipend to Apprentices:-
The Employer shall pay to every apprentices during the period of apprenticeship training such stipend not less then prescribed minimum rate of stipend shall be as follows namely:-
- During the first year of training Rupees 820 per month.
- During the second year of training Rupees 940 per month.
- During the third year of training Rupees 1,090 per month.
- During the fourth year of training Rupees 1,230 per month.
4. Examination and Award Certificates The examination scheduled two times in the every year:-
- April / May,
- October / November.
The successful apprentices are awarded National Apprenticeship Certificate, Issued under the ages of National Council for Vocational Training, Govt. of India, Ministry of Labour which is recognized a higher qualification to the National Trade Certificate of the same trade for training in I.T.I.’s under Craftsman Training /Scheme; for employment in Govt. Departments Organization. [Govt. of India, Ministry of Labour letter no. TC/NTC/14/(3) 6 dated 07.02.66 and DGE&T. OM No. TC/NTC/14(2) 64 dated 13.11.64].
PREFACE
Apprenticeship means any system by which an employer undertakes to contract to train a person or have him trained systematically for a period the duration of which has been fixed in advanced and in the course of which the person is bound to work in the employer’s service.
The apprentice Act in India was enacted in 1961. it was subsequently ambled in 1973 and 1986 so as to enlarge its scope and coverage. Under the Act, it is obligatory on the part of employers both in Public and Private Sector establishments having requisite training infrastructure as laid as laid down in the Act to engage apprentices. Currently 254 groups of industries are covered under the Act. About 17,800 establishments engage apprentices.
